How to combine other roles with a driver one in SmartHaul TMS and SmartHaul App

Enabling multi-role permissions in your company.

Maybe you're an owner operator or maybe you dispatch loads to yourself in your company, as well as the rest of your drivers. The combine with another role feature is designed to help expand your permission set and fully manage your orders on the go.

Roles can be combined from the SmartHaul app and website.

From the users menu, select the user you want to edit permissions for and click on the 3 dots in the top right next to their profile picture and click Edit.

Combine a Supervisor or Dispatcher with a Driver

Supervisors and dispatchers can be combined with a driver role from the Users menu in the web app.

  1. The Account Info menu will open and you’ll be able to edit various details of your user.

  2. If they are a supervisor or dispatcher, you’ll see the option Combine with another role and driver will be an option.

  3. Select Driver and enter the phone number for the user.

Driver roles are verified with a phone number.

  1. Click Save Changes in the bottom right to finalize.

  2. A text message will be sent to the user confirming the changes. After accepting, the user should log back into the web app to view their updated permissions.

The visuals between Driver and other roles are slightly different in account info. 

Combine a Driver with a Supervisor or Dispatcher

A driver can be combined in almost the same way, with a couple of changes.

  1. From the Account Info menu of the driver you want to combine roles of you’ll see the option Combine with another role.

  2. Right now, None is selected. You should see the options for Supervisor and Dispatcher.

  3. Select the role you want to assign and enter the email for the user.

Non-driver roles are verified with an email address.

  1. Click save changes in the bottom right to finalize.

  2. An email will be sent to the user confirming the changes. After accepting, the user should log back into the web app to view their updated permissions.

You can view the permissions of a user or what permissions they would gain by hovering your mouse over the information icon next to the role.

Let's go through the menus step by step. To combine a role with another on the mobile app, you can start by tapping on the Users section from the sidebar.

  1. From this menu, select the user you would like to add permissions to. 

  2. Tap Edit at the top of the profile.

Combine a Supervisor or Dispatcher with a Driver

From the Edit Profile menu:

  1. Slide down until you see Combine with Driver role

  2. Enter the phone number for the driver if it isn’t already entered.

Driver roles are verified with a phone number.

  1. Tap the Combine button and it will turn green. 

  2. The trailer information will popup. Adjust information for the trailer as needed.

  3. Tap Save in the top right to finalize combining the roles. 

A text message will be sent to the user confirming the changes. After accepting, the user should log back into the app to view their updated permissions.

Combine a Driver with a Supervisor or Dispatcher

If you want to combine a driver with a supervisor or dispatcher, you’ll see it works in mostly the same way as above with a couple key differences.

From the Edit Profile menu of the driver you want to combine a role with:

  1. Slide down until you see Combine with another role.

  2. Tap to see the available roles you add. This should be Dispatcher or Supervisor.

  3. Select the role and enter the users email.

Non-driver roles are verified with an email address.

  1. Tap save to finalize combining the roles.

An email will be sent to the user confirming the changes. After accepting, the user should log back into the app to view their updated permissions.

Tapping the Permissions button anywhere in the app will show the permissions of a role or what permissions they would gain.
